Reservations:

All reservations are made according to the vehicle category and not for a specific model. In case a vehicle in the customer’s pre-selected category is unavailable, even with a confirmed reservation, Autounit Car Rental reserves the right to provide the customer with a higher category vehicle at no extra cost to the customer.

Renter Qualifications:

To rent a car, the renter must:

  • Be at least 23 years old, with a driving license issued at least one year prior, for vehicle categories A, B, C, D. For all other categories, the renter must be over 25 years old and the driving license must have been issued at least 3 years prior.
  • Possess a Greek, European (for EU countries), or International (for non-EU countries) driving license.

Vehicle Pickup for Car Rentals:

When picking up the vehicle, the renter must have:

  • A valid legal driving license.
  • Upon receiving the vehicle, the renter will be provided with the Rental Agreement, which they must review and sign. The Rental Agreement will detail all the services/insurances provided and any additional services/insurances the renter wishes, along with the corresponding charges. It is crucial for the renter to inspect the vehicle at pickup and report any existing damage to avoid being charged for pre-existing damage.

Car Rental Terms:

Fuel Policy:

The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel it was delivered with. Otherwise, the renter will be charged the equivalent value of the missing fuel.

Deposit Amounts by Vehicle Category:

  • The deposit amount is €300.00 for categories A, B.
  • The deposit amount is €400.00 for category C.
  • The deposit amount is €500.00 for categories D, E.
  • The deposit amount is €800.00 for category G.

The deposit will be held on the driver's credit card and will be fully refunded at the end of the rental period, provided no other charges are incurred.

Third-Party Insurance (F.C.G. Full Coverage Gold):

Included in the rental price, vehicles are insured against third parties (excluding the driver) for death and personal injury up to €3,000 per accident and for third-party property damage (excluding the Autounit Car Rental vehicle) up to €3,000. In case of changes to these limits, the minimum limits as defined by Greek law will always apply. Damages exceeding the insurance coverage or excluded from it will be paid entirely by the customer.

Theft and Fire Insurance:

Included in the rental price.

EIP (Extra Insurance Pack):

The renter is fully exempt from liability for any car damage related to:

  • Civil liability within guarded areas, ferry transport, and abroad.
  • Natural phenomena – hail, provided they accept and sign the relevant terms of the company's contract and pay €10/day.

Insurance does not cover damages:

  • When the driver causes an accident under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • If the driver is not authorized in the rental agreement.
  • If the renter fails to take all necessary precautions for the safe parking and locking of the car.
  • If the car is illegally parked.
  • Damages resulting from driving on unsuitable roads.

Note: The above insurances do not cover damages resulting from violations of the Traffic Code (K.O.K.), destruction of the key, glass breakage, damage to mirrors, glass, impacts on the underbody, tires, and the car's interior.

Fines & Administrative Penalties:

Fines and penalties due to traffic code violations are the renter's full responsibility. Additionally, the renter assumes the management fee payment as applicable.

Lost or Damaged Key:

In case of key loss or damage during the rental period, the renter must pay:

  • €80.00 - €200.00 for categories A, B, C, Cd.
  • €100.00 - €250.00 for category D.
  • €200.00 - €350.00 for categories E, F.

Cancellations:

Cancellation must be made at least seventy-two (72) hours before the scheduled rental start date and time, as per the exact booking time in the company's reservation system. If you wish to cancel a reservation, contact the company through the reservation system. The following charges apply for cancellations:

  • If a cancellation notice is received by Autounit Car Rental at least seventy-two (72) hours before the scheduled rental start, any prepaid amount will be refunded.
  • If a cancellation notice is received by Autounit Car Rental less than seventy-two (72) hours before the scheduled rental start, no prepaid amount will be refunded.

No-show:

If the renter does not pick up the car on the agreed day and time without prior written or telephone notice, Autounit Car Rental will cancel the reservation after 3 hours. Autounit Car Rental reserves the right to charge the renter for one day of rental for the same car category as the reservation.

Transport by Ferry:

Loading cars onto a ferry without written approval/consent from Autounit Car Rental is prohibited. In case of such a rental between islands, the renter must return the vehicle to the pickup branch, otherwise, all transport costs will be borne by them. In case of mechanical breakdown or accident, the renter is obliged to transport the car to an Autounit Car Rental branch (off-island) at their own expense.

Car Rentals in Athens - Rental Extension:

If the renter wishes to keep the rented vehicle longer than the agreed period, they must contact the Autounit Car Rental branch from which they picked up the vehicle to note the extension of the rental in the Rental Agreement.
